Her production company Free Rein Projects has received awards from QCA, BAF, Asian Women Giving Circle, NYC Women's Fund, and The Jim Henson Foundation for 'Specially Processed American Me', a performance exploring Spam as a portal into Asian America.

The Art of SPAM: The Making of "Specially Processed American Me"

Join multidisciplinary artist Jaime Sunwoo for an interactive workshop on the puppetry in "Specially Processed American Me", her surreal autobiographical play using Spam, the canned meat, as a portal into her Asian American upbringing and her family's experiences of the Korean War. Learn about the history of Spam in the Asia-Pacific and its connection to war, class, and nostalgia. The full play will be screened during Puppet Homecoming Weekend Two online.
